BUDGET £10 – 15K
This beautiful micro wedding took place at Hackney Town Hall in their epic glass roof ceremony room. Lucy and Jono knew planning a lockdown wedding would be no easy feat, and would mean rethinking everything. However, it also allowed them to create a wedding that was 100% authentically them. From the welcome cocktails to the tacos, there were plenty of special touches that may not have come from planning a wedding for 100 people! With their new surname being Gold, they incorporated the colour into little features throughout the day, combined with a laid back street style. We love that Lucy and Jono found planning a smaller wedding gave them the opportunity to have the day they truly wanted and were able to share it with their closest friends and family.
WHAT MADE OUR DAY UNIQUE
“Planning a lockdown wedding meant rethinking everything! We wanted our wedding to feel authentically us – from the welcome cocktail to the tacos. We also ended up doing so much ourselves so ended up coming up with so many special touches that we might not have thought of when we were planning a wedding for 100 people. As it was, it was just us, our families and our closest friends which meant we could have the day we really wanted rather than the one we thought we should have.” – Lucy & Jono
Hackney Town Hall Micro Wedding
Hackney Town Hall offers a wide range of options, so you’re bound to find a style you love. The original 1930s building and now features two state of the art glass-roofed atria, meaning you can feel as though you’re bringing the outside, inside, whatever the weather! This space also comes with a dedicated team, meaning you can take advantage of their knowledge and expertise whilst planning – which is always a big help – (planning a wedding can be stressful you know!)
INSPIRATION & STYLING
“Our new surname is Gold, so we wanted to have gold touches combined with a really laid back street style. Although we ended up having a marquee in the garden, we wanted to retain the feel of the wedding we had planned in our native Hackney.” – Lucy & Jono
“Don’t get too hung up on wanting everything to be perfect – you’ll stress yourself out and you won’t be able to enjoy the day when things inevitably go wrong. Remember it’s all about the two of you and your love, everything else is just window dressing. One of our favourite moments was the confetti shot! Honestly, Emma our photographer did such an amazing job. Other than that, probably the speeches and the tacos.” – Lucy & Jono
“Our suppliers were so endlessly patient as our plans kept changing. Special shout-outs to Emma our photographer (Epic Love Story) and Carla who supplied the cake (Fondant Fox) – both of them were absolute angels and did an incredible job despite the wedding relocating by 30 miles. James and Richard who run Hermanos Taco Truck supplied the most delicious food and kept our guests entertained when we were an hour late thanks to Bank holiday traffic. Finally, Helena (the Allotment Florist) who was due to supply our original flowers introduced us to Anna (Flower Appreciation Society) who kindly provided our last-minute flowers when we found out we could actually go ahead. Basically, everyone was amazing and we love them all so much for being a part of it because love can’t wait!” – Lucy & Jono
If you’re planning a post lockdown wedding and need a little micro inspiration, then look no further than our real wedding archives full of intimate ceremonies, elopements and love.
