2022 Boot Trends: 4 Chic Looks You Can Start Shopping Now
2022 has been my main character year. There, I said it! I'm dressing up every damn day—or at the very least, putting on a great pair of boots. We all know footwear can elevate even the simplest of outfits, which is why I have been obsessed with studying all of the 2022 boot trends and figuring out what will outlast the trend cycle and look chic for years to come. And luckily, there's quite a bit to choose from!
First up on the list is a trend for my girls who love a heeled moment but haven't worn actual heels since pre-pandemic. Skinny-heeled boots are very much in, but it's up to you whether you choose to go with sky-high stilettos or sweet, skinny kitten heels. My personal faves? A slight stiletto with a flared-out base.
Next up is a somewhat more relaxed look dubbed The Slouch. Slouchy boots were cool waaay back when, but they're definitely getting the revival they deserve this season. My advice? Stay away from suede to avoid looking dated and opt instead for shiny patents or printed leather for a fresh feel. That said, a chocolate brown suede slouch still gives me butterflies. Call me old-fashioned!
Next up is a personal favorite for running around, the combat boot. Remember when we all had that same pair back in high school? Now, they're definitely a bit chunkier and cooler, perfect for pairing with ultra-femme looks for a satisfying contrast.
Last but not least, this one's a little obvious: Knee-high boots are officially replacing your over-the-knee favorites. Sorry in advance if you ~invested~ in that one Stuart Weitzman pair! You can totally still wear them, but consider adding at least one knee-high pair in a fun shade into your wardrobe, stat.
Below, read on for a bit more info on each trend, plus a few of our faves to start shopping now.

Lug soles gave last year's boots an edgy feel, but for 2022, we're returning to the classic combat. With a fresh take, of course! This time around, pair yours with femme ‘fits for contrast instead of tucking them into skinny jeans like you did back in high school. Cringe.
Leather Platform Chelsea Boots
We didn't think it was possible, but combining two of our favorite shoe styles—oxfords and combats—led to the creation of one of the coolest boots on the market. These platform chelsea boots from affordable accessories brand PEDRO are the perfect blend of preppy and unisex. This way, they'll go with dresses and cargos alike. Best of all, new customers can use the code NEWPEDRO15 to save 15% off their first purchase.
High Top Caturi Boots
This pair of faux suede boots have the lace-up detailing of combat boots but the tread of a great pair of sneakers—basically, you're getting the best of both worlds when you can't decide which type of shoes to wear with your new sweater. This pair is also great for outdoor adventures and long walks since they're super comfortable.
All-Weather Amalia Boot
You can't go wrong with a classic combat boot, especially when it comes in this beautiful tobacco brown color. The Amalia boot from Nisolo is a crowd-pleaser since it matches any and every colorway out there. The brand is known and loved for its high-end creations, and these boots are no exception. They also have a goal to maintain 0% net carbon emissions by offsetting their own footprint by 100 percent. And going even further, every Nisolo purchase ensures 100% living wages to the people creating their products. Along with looking incredible, these combat boots will feel incredible. They're built with custom memory foam insoles and rubber soles that absorb all sorts of pressure before it hits your feet. 1460 Pascal Virginia Leather Boot
If you want to invest in combat boots that will last a lifetime, look no further than Dr. Martens. I love the Pascal Virginia Leather Boots for a wear-with-everything option you'll never tire of.
Stiletto heels are in, so say goodbye to your crusty block heels. I know it's hard to move on, but we must! That said, if you aren't into sky-high skinny heels, a shorter stiletto looks equally chic for everyday wear. Bonus points if you go for a flared-out skinny heel for a bit of added interest!
Behold, the perfect black boot. From the pointy toe to the stiletto heel to the unique asymmetrical shaft, the Francis Boot takes a monochrome black look and adds a bit of interest.
If you prefer the flared-out skinny heel I mentioned previously, these Adi Boots will suit your style. The square toe, contrast stitching and dreamy, creamy hue are to die for.
I didn't think this trend could make a triumphant return, but I stand corrected—and excited to give it a go! Slouchy boots are back, baby, and don't think you have to dress them down for a laid-back look.
A classic brown slouchy boot like the Jessamy looks great with everything from tucked-in denim to flowing boho skirts. Talk about versatile.
Mandee 2 Boot
If you prefer a pop of color, these Marc Fisher boots come in black, white, purple and (my favorite, duh) deep green.
Remember over-the-knee boots? LOL, me either. Knee-highs are everything at the moment, so don't be afraid to throw some lotion on those kneecaps before revealing them to the world! Since the silhouette of a classic knee-high boot is fairly understated, feel free to go bold with color, texture or any other statement-making details. Or, you know, channel your inner cowboy.
Shoelery (shoe jewelry) gives a plain white boot like the Felinda some added oomph. These babies certainly make a case for silver accents to have their long-awaited comeback.
Dagget Western Boot
Cowboy boots are still trending, but only if you go bold. How about the knee-high Dagget Boots in two-tone teal?
